As for hair damage, we'll need to complete a consult prior to confirming the appointment. If you have issues with severe shedding or alopecia, we recommend no service in your condition at this time to prevent further damage. Our hope is to service you in the future once your root issue is resolved and as our business evolves.severe shedding - No - potentially means you have vitamin deficiencies or other health related issues that needs a plan of action or resolution first. If your hair is coming out in clumps, any tension may assist in more rapid hair loss. T & G will not facilitate additional loss in your situation.alopecia - No - either health related or long-term damage to the area that needs scalp rest for regrowthClients with alopecia who are comfortable with braids will need assistance of extensions to help camouflage the area. At this time, we do not provide services including extensions but will in the future as we grow. We can revisit this service at that time.severely dry hair - Yes - needs a moisture and possibly protein regimen prior to services and after services. You can book a wash/blow out service in addition to a deep hair mask with steaming to moisture your hair prior to your braiding service.weak follicles - Yes - natural twist and/or braids helps hair to thrive without putting additional strain on follicles or hair shaft. However, we do not recommend services with extensions as tension can/will put excessive strain on an already fragile root system.
To prevent damage to follicles and/or hair strands, please wait at least 3 weeks before scheduling an appointment with chemically treated hair. This includes relaxers, coloring or any other chemical treatments. T & G takes pride in growing hair, not facilitating ANY fallouts. Please be honest about your hair's health and prior treatments.
Clients should wash and/or blow out their hair prior to the appointment. Styles need to be completed on clean hair for optimal health and maintenance. If a wash and/or blow out is necessary, please click the link on our services page to add the required fee. If you need a deep conditioning hair mask with steam, please also add to your booking. Fees are imposed due to additional processing time and service.
Yes! Please do! Hair loves moisture. You can rinse your hair in between washes and apply conditioning mist and oil to lock in moisture. When washing, use moisture rich shampoo and conditioning products. Try not to manipulate the braid or twist too much but focus mainly on your scalp when washing. Some people use a durag or some sort of tie down scarf on your hair while washing it to prevent frizzing your style. This will keep your hair and scalp clean until next service.
Yes! What sets T & G apart from most salons is the inclusion of a family friendly atmosphere. We know all too well the difficulties in parenting and want to foster community back into our environment. We're a mobile only establishment for now but will soon plant roots in a space. This space will still cater to our families. Moms and Dads can rest assured that their children will not be a distraction during the services but find solace knowing they are having a good time in the kids play area or infant area. You'll be welcomed to bring your child's pack and play with all your child's personal goodies should you choose to do so. T & G helps parents take the pressure off finding a sitter by providing a space for their little ones as well!
